5 Stars Exactly what I needed
This product is simple, cheap, and it works perfectly with 1080P content. I was sick of rotating my 100lb plasma TV to switch HDMI outputs plus the possibility of wear and tear on the non-replaceable inputs on the TV had me worried that I may be over using them. I only have 2 HDMI outputs on my TV but I also wanted to add my PC to one of the inputs.

After reading one of the reviews I was a little concerned that it may not be compatible with my equipment but it works great. Here’s the equipment I have tested it on.

TV:

Panasonic 50 inch PZ700U 1080P Plasma

Components:

-PS3 Set to output 1080P

-Scientific America 8300HD DVR from Cox Cable 1080i

-Gateway PC with DVI out. I have a cable that converts the DVI out to an HDMI out so I can plug it into the switch.

The Scientific America box is the only one that displays a maximum of 1080i content. The other two are set to 1080P and I haven’t seen any issues with these three devices. The two I have connected to it now are the Cable box and the PC with the PS3 using the 2nd input from the TV. It only takes about 3 seconds to switch from one input to the other after clicking the button on the front. You can spend a little extra and get one with a remote but for me it wasn’t worth it. I didn’t want yet another remote control sitting on my counter so I don’t mind getting off my butt to push the button every once in a while when I want to switch to the PC.

The first thing I did when I got the switch was compare the picture quality of the devices when connected directly to the TV and then again through the switch. There was absolutely no difference or loss in detail. I never see flicker or any other sign that there may be a loss of quality. The switch has worked perfectly well for me and I am very happy with the price I paid.

Sometimes when I touch the box with my hand the picture will temporarily go black on the TV. I think it’s just from the static electricity from my carpet but I can’t be sure. When I take my hand back off the box the picture always returns to normal.

1 Star BUYER BEWARE
I bought this item because I needed a switcher obviously but this particular one because of no power and it was advertised as 1080p capable. I bought through Amazon and a third party dealer Cabledirect but received a similar item that was NOT 1080p compliant. The imformation on the box, brand name and specs, did not match the add as shown here on Amazon. I received a Monoprice HDS-201 which only passes up to 1080i as stated by the manufacturer. This may not be a big deal if you are only using DVD but if you have a game console, HD-DVD or Blu-ray which are all capable of sending a 1080p signal to your display then this unit will degrade your signal and should not be used.

5 Stars The perfect HDMI splitter
If you know that you need a two way hdmi splitter and you’re considering this product, buy it. Its perfect I have an hd dvr and an hd dvd player hooked up and all i do to switch inputs is press a button. The picture is clear…it has no constant power source meaning your not going to lose any picture or sound clarity. Its basically like pulling the hdmi cable from the hd dvr and plugging it into the dvd player whenever you switch back and forth, except all you do is press 1 button. People complain that “IT DOESNT HAVE A REMOTE” Tell me, is a remote control going to open a dvd and put in in the player????? probably not so while your up there push the button. It is tiny as hell it can fit in to the palm of my hand it cant be bigger than a pack of smokes

1 Star Boo, hiss
This unit is terribly non-user friendly and has very poorly written instructions with circular references that drove me crazy. It’s nearly impossible to control this receiver without having the TV on (in order to use it’s GUI control). I returned this receiver and bought a Pioneer that serves all my purposes for half the price. It took 30 minutes to set up the Pioneer, program remote and understand more of it’s control functions than I was able to do during the week that I had the Sony before returning it and a well-used “instruction” manual. Even the functions that I did learn how to use were awkward to access. Technically, the Sony may be excellent for all I know, but it’s not worth much to me if it’s so cumbersome to use. KUDOS TO AMAZON for their easy return process and timely refund!

4 Stars Nice sony receiver
The main reason why i choose this recever is that you can adjust the bass and treble of all the surround speakers. Has built in equalizer with 5 different presets. This was very important to me for voice quality on my center speaker. Im very happy with this receiver, with 3 hdmi inputs, it reduces the amount of wires drastically. As far as sound goes, it actually is much better than my harmon kardon and denon. Made my 2 front surround speaker that I didmt use before, sound awesome. Also has this really nice feature: If the words are not matching the voices on a show due to lag of your slow HDTV, the receiver can put a delay on the sound to match it up. Also has the ability to run 10 speakers at same time.

7.1, plus 2 more speakers on the “b” channel which i use for the pool patio. Not too hard to figure out how to use and i wont even use half of its features. Bought it open box for $500 on amazon, free ship. Cant beat the price for the features. My last sony receiver overheated. I recommend keeping any receiver well ventilated. Would definitely recommend this unit. Reason i took away a star for this is b/c, one: its not perfect, and its on-screen display is a bit awkard to use. switching sources to analog to Dolbe digital reduces the volume(this may be my fault, not sure. Good luck

5 Stars A Great Sony A/V Receiver
I just upgrade my old Sony TV to the Sony KDL46W3000 and need to also upgrade my A/V receiver. The Sony STRDG1100 was the best on the market for the money. The smooth integration, HDMI input and the capability to perform HDMI up conversion was all pluses. I did read and re-read the instructions for about a month, before I attempted to do the install and I had to go to the Sony store to ask a few questions. But it was worth it, I highly recommend the Sony STRDG1100.

5 Stars Awesome Value (Features vs Cost)
I needed to upgrade my old A/V Receiver (also a Sony) to something that supported HDMI In/Out. I couldn’t be happier with the DG1100. There are more features in this box than I will ever need… but a true audiophile would appreciate them. Initial setup took only a few minutes.

I have always been pleased with Sony products… and the DG1100 hasn’t changed my mind.

This is a great receiver, period. I almost bought the lowest end ES model, but decided to go with the STR 1100. Sony has been getting an unfair bad rap on many of these review boards. I think these people are comparing the 2-3 entry level receivers with the high end stuff from Denon, HK, and then reporting how much better they are. WELL DUH! THe only thing that was a little bit of a headache was setup. As a few others have noted, it is a little on the difficult and time consuming level. But stick with it and you’ll figure it out. I’ve already tested this product and it came thru with flying colors.
